Free Event Open to the Public
Purpose: To promote a greater awareness and appreciation for local, state, regional, and national history on campus through interactive activities, discussions, events, and partnerships with like-minded community groups
Events Planned:
- Local historical societies, parks, museums, educational institutions, and other organizations have been invited to set up booths containing information about local history, artifacts, photographs, and other relevant historical items.
- Community volunteers will participate in a non-competitive car show that will serve to demonstrate the importance of the automobile in American society.
- A video of local historians explaining our rich history will be displayed for viewers to watch.
- Volunteers from Coastal Alabama Historical Society (CAHS) will dress in historical costume to assist in registration, welcome volunteers and guests, and provide tours through the history fair.
- Local schools (elementary, middle, and high schools) will be invited to tour the history fair.
- Coastal Sound (jazz band and vocalists) will perform a patriotic concert.
- A live Raku pottery firing will be held for visitors to learn more about the process.
- The Blueberry Trail Maids will be greeting visitors with a smile and available to assist as needed.
- Registration for All Volunteers
- Registration will be held in the main lobby of Coastal Alabama gymnasium on the Brewton campus from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- Please check in at the main lobby to verify contact information and number of volunteers.
- Assistance will be available for directions to assigned booth and unloading materials if desired.
- Tables will be provided for volunteer organizations.
- Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
- Car Show Participants
- Registration for volunteer participants will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- Cars will be arranged by year model. Directions to assigned spots will be provided the day of the history fair.
- Any pictures or historical displays related to the automobile are not required but greatly appreciated.
