College & Career Readiness

Coastal Alabama's Adult Education Program offers various services, certifications, and classes at no cost to our students.

COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS

Students wanting to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma can choose from two paths available: General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Diploma Option (HSDO).
 

Career Essentials Courses:

Designed to give students who have obtained their HSE the extra support and skills needed to enroll into college or go directly into the workplace in a variety of industries. 

The Coastal Alabama Adult Education Career Pathway program is a NO COST program that prepares individuals to enter into the workforce in a variety of positions and industries.

With its flexible hybrid format, students from all backgrounds will have the opportunity to: 

  • Work one-on-one with a Career Pathway navigator to develop educational and occupational goals. 
  • Learn more about and get hands-on exploration in the 5 fastest growing industries within Region 7 of Alabama:
    • Architecture & Construction 
    • Healthcare 
    • Hospitality & Tourism 
    • Manufacturing 
    • Transportation & Logistics 

Students in the Career Pathway program will also develop or improve upon the following skills necessary for every individual in the workforce today: 

  • Computer Literacy 
  • Math for Work 
  • Financial Literacy 
  • Workplace Communication 
  • Workplace Etiquette 
  • Resolving Problems in the Workplace 
  • Healthy Workplace Environment 
  • Employment Preparation 
  • Workplace Safety 
  • And so much more! 

Students who successfully complete the Career Pathway program will receive: 

  • A scholarship for up to 4 FREE CREDITS to Coastal Alabama Community College 
  • Articulated credit for WKO 106 (3 credits) when enrolling in Coastal Alabama Community College 
  • An ACT National Career Readiness Certificate 
  • An Alabama Certified Employee Certificate provided by the Alabama Community College System.

 


 

Intergrated Education and Training Courses

Integrated Education and Training (IET) is a service approach that provides adult education and literacy activities concurrently and contextually with workforce preparation activities and workforce training for a specific occupation or occupational cluster for the purpose of educational and career advancement.
