Student Requirements: Worked as a CNA in Alabama for at least 6 months. Students must have an appropriate WorkKeys score to attend the program. The minimum score on your Work Keys is as follows: Applied Mathematics - 3, Graphic Literacy - 3, Work Place Documents - 2. Proof of these two requirements must be emailed to apply for the program. Email to: workforce@coastalalabama.edu. Students will be sent registration information once requirements are approved.

Course Overview:

The medication assistant course is a 100 hour non-credit training course that prepares the certified nursing assistant (CNA) to administer routine medications to patients in a variety of healthcare settings, primarily long-term care. Medication assistants practice under the supervision of licensed nurses. Additionally, medication assistants scope of practice in the State of Alabama is regulated by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Following successful course completion, candidates can apply to take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) - Medication Assistant Certification Exam (MACE).

Course Cost - $1,039 per student includes tuition and books 

Student Requirements: Worked in the field as a CNA in the State of Alabama for at least 6 months. Students must have an appropriate WorkKeys score for the occupation to attend.
