Coastal Alabama Names JD Pruitt Head Baseball Coach in Bay Minette

Coastal Alabama is thrilled to welcome Coach JD Pruitt as the new Head Baseball Coach of the Coastal Alabama Coyotes in Bay Minette. With an impressive track record and a wealth of experience, Coach Pruitt brings a winning mentality and a passion for the game that will take the Coyotes to new heights.

Coach Pruitt's journey to Coastal Alabama has been defined by his dedication and commitment to the sport. For the past four years, he has successfully led Spanish Fort High School's baseball team, demonstrating his ability to nurture talent and foster a culture of excellence. Leading the Toros, Coach Pruitt was selected as the 2023 Alabama All State 6A Coach of the Year, as well as the 2023 AL.com Coastal Alabama Coach of the Year.

Prior to his tenure at Spanish Fort, Coach Pruitt honed his coaching skills as an assistant varsity football coach, head strength and conditioning coordinator, and head baseball coach at Enterprise High School.

His passion for strength and conditioning is evident through his work as a graduate assistant at Troy University, where he obtained a Masters in Physical Education. Additionally, Coach Pruitt's experience as an intern at Troy University and SPEED Sports Performance in Peachtree City, GA, has given him a comprehensive understanding of sports performance and its impact on athletic success.

Coach Pruitt's own achievements as a player further validate his expertise in the field. As a graduate of G.W. Long, he was part of three state championship baseball teams and amassed an impressive record of nine state and conference championships throughout his playing and coaching career. Following his high school success, he earned a baseball scholarship to Central Alabama Community College, where he was recognized as an Academic All-American. Continuing his education and athletic journey, Coach Pruitt transferred to the University of Montevallo. With a degree in Exercise Science and two All-American honors, he left an indelible mark with the Falcons and was inducted into the Montevallo Hall of Fame in 2018.

Coach Pruitt's professional career also includes three-years in the Oakland A's minor league system, as well as a stint with the San Diego Padres.

Coach Pruitt was selected as a USA Baseball as a Task Force Member for the player selection process in 2022 to serve on the player selection team for the 16U and 15U national teams.

As a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Coach Pruitt brings a comprehensive approach to player development. His certifications, combined with his extensive experience, will undoubtedly provide our athletes with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the field.
